Just in case you missed it, the weather was ideal for the weekend of the Olde Oakville Art-Rageous Vendor Market and we even had live music on the front lawn. Everyone enjoyed the student music ensembles provided by Bandology, a band camp for students in grades 7 to 12. The soloists, duets, brass and woodwind ensembles as well as jazz and rock bands provided lively music both Friday evening and all day Saturday. Thanks to our Grace youth, the musicians were well looked after as they had a “green room” stocked with snacks and water as well as a dedicated hostess to ensure they stayed on schedule.
Grace members were very generous with their time, talents and their support once again. Our crafters group, “Crafted with Grace” met in April to make Mermaid Gardens. These cute little rock terrariums were made during several workshops and were sold at the event by a Grace volunteer decked out in a Little Mermaid shirt. The very popular Bake Sale, was well stocked by both Grace and SCAW bakers with an assortment of scrumptious home made goodies that were sold out by the end of the event. Framed art work and quilts were donated for sale and one Grace member became an official vendor by renting a table to sell her unique visual art.
It was an amazing and enjoyable charity event that will enable more children to wake up after a good night’s sleep with hope for the future. We look forward to our next fundraising event and it’s never to early to start planning and creating.
