Tracey and Luke Harrison lead us in celebrating 500 years of Reformation through local action.  We took the 3X500 challenge!

On October 31, 1517, Luther nailed his Ninety-Five Theses to the Castle Church door in Wittenberg, Germany, bringing attention to the gospel-focussed Reformation, which continues to this day. In October and November 2017, the Grace community celebrated this half millennium anniversary by carrying out a Reformation 3X500 Challenge.  Together, we:

  • Collected $500 and 500 pieces of clothing and donated them to SafetyNet Children & Youth Charities here in Oakville. The group relies on community donations to provide free clothing to financially disadvantaged families.  Since opening their doors, they have supported over 2300 local families.  Bill Shields collected these donations and shared information about the organization with the Grace community during a Sunday service.  For more information about the organization, please visit safetynetservices.ca
  • Collected 500 non-perishable food items which were donated to Kerr Street Mission (KSM) food market. KSM’s mission is to provide HELP for the present and HOPE for the Future for all those living in need in Oakville.  The food that Grace provided the KSM community is being utilized in variety of ways, whether to be placed in our market, used in our community meals, or handed directly to a client in an emergency through an emergency food box.  In a message from KSM staff they indicated that due to the quantity and quality donated, families will have access to a variety of items that they would not necessarily be able to purchase in a regular grocery store. Thank you, Grace, for coming together to honour Reformation, and support our community.
