Back in March of 2017, Grace Lutheran hosted an evening presentation titled “What in the World are Lutherans Doing”? About 40 people attended, and Tom Brook from CLWR shared many of his experiences from his travels supporting their missions.
Living in Canada, and more specifically Oakville, many of our members have been blessed with a comfortable life. Learning about those who may not have the same privileges encourages us to contribute time, finances, and other resources to those less fortunate.
CLWR strives for a world where people live in peace with hope, justice, dignity and equality, empowered to achieve their rights to quality of life and to have their basic needs met.
“We Care” kits were distributed at the March event for people to fill and return to the church. These consisted of toiletries, school supplies, and small toys. These gifts provide necessities to those living in adverse conditions, like refugee camps and poverty-stressed regions, and in the wake of natural disasters.
We learned a great deal about some of the many projects that CLWR is involved in. Especially interesting were the stories of the refugee camps that Tom has visited, and how much our contributions can make a difference.
